Cumbria Calling: Gaming Adventures

”We are delighted to unveil our new outreach partnership with the esteemed Orchestras Live for the upcoming 2023-2024 season! Our collaboration with this wonderful organisation is sure to bring forth a multitude of exciting projects that will captivate audiences from all walks of life. At the heart of this three-part project lies a special focus on the South Lake District. Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to bring this new immersive experience that celebrates the harmony between music, creativity, and the schools throughout this remarkable region…

We firmly believe that this collaboration will unlock new artistic dimensions for both The Manchester Video Game Orchestra and the members of the Cumbria Music Hub, who will join us in this endeavour. Orchestras Live, a national producer known for their unwavering dedication to ensuring that orchestras are accessible to everyone, shares our vision wholeheartedly. They are staunch advocates of creating opportunities for music and creativity to flourish even in the furthest corners of the country. We are proud to partner with an organisation that aligns so closely with our own values” - Tom Hillary

“Music students from across the senior school had chance to work with The Manchester Video Game Orchestra on a new project with Orchestras Live and Cumbria Music Hub. Students worked with professional musicians and composed an original piece of video game music. This is part of a series of workshops which will continue over this school year. Thank you for visiting us and working with our students, we can’t wait for the next part!”

“Do you know your musical stings from your vertical remixes? This year's Cumbria Calling is exploring composing for video games. We've had a fab inspiration day at UVHS with The Manchester Video Game Orchestra and composer Andy Smith creating a layered soundscape inspired by the sonic games!”

“Yesterday, students took part in an inspirational day where they worked with the musical director and musicians from The Manchester Video Game Orchestra. It was a great day and the students worked incredibly hard. Later in the year they will be developing their work to be performed by a professional Orchestra! #proudofourstudents”
